About Therapy

I’m glad you’re here.

If this is your first time in counseling, you may have questions about what it’s like and how to get started. People seek therapy for a number of reasons:

  • Self-improvement
  • Perfectionism that interferes with work and relationships
  • Life transitions
  • Communication or other relationship difficulties
  • Recent losses (e.g. death or divorce)
  • Social difficulties
  • Anxiety or depressive symptoms
  • Other life challenges

You may wonder what a typical session is like and how long therapy lasts. My approach to counseling is tailored to your needs and goals. You decide what we work on first. At the same time, I’ll use my training and experience to help you understand your options and teach you skills to help you understand and overcome the problems you bring to therapy.

While the number of sessions depends on what issues we’re working on together, you are in control of when therapy ends. Trying counseling for a session or two doesn’t mean you’re signing up for months or years of therapy. We can discuss your needs, wants, and concerns about counseling and you decide what’s best for you.
